“I believe that, through the act of living, the discovery of oneself is made concurrently with the discovery of the world around us”
~ Henri Cartier-Bresson

ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS WORK
The reason why one never tires of Henri’s images is that they often work on more than one level at once. They constantly hold our attention, not to mention our admiration and respect.
What is it about this particular image that makes it one of these rare ones? I think it is one of the best interpretations of the reverie of childhood, the sheer joy of being alive and free, unfettered by age or experience. I have always felt this to be a self portrait of Henri himself whose passion and energy for life never weakened.
