Dog With Suitcase, 1982

“The basis for my artistic work is concrete observation. I am interested in the photographs as a physical object and all the prints are made by myself. "

ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS WORK

Kristoffer Albrecht dog with suitcase is one of my favorite of his images. But until recently I didn't realize how much debate was out there on the circumstances of this very sweet dog and master's suitcase.

One perspective is that of a loyal companion stands by his master's suitcase anticipating a departure. Our heartstrings are tugged, thinking of the little dog's fear of being left behind, and the photograph reflects a more melancholic moment. On the other hand, the dog and suitcase could symbolize the joy of a recent reunion, the dog’s loyalty having paid off with the happy arrival of their beloved master.

Each of interpretation speaks to the deep emotional connection we form with our furry friends, but what do you think Kristoffer's photograph is about?

If you loved today's Power of Photography image, stay tuned this holiday season for Peter Fetterman Gallery's next exhibition featuring man's best friend. We're sure dog lovers everywhere will certainly name it a "Best in Show" event!
