ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS WORK

I remember the day so vividly. I had made an appointment to see Henri and Martine at their magical apartment overlooking the Tuileries, 138 Rue de Rivoli. I was on a mission. I came clutching my well thumbed copy of Henri’s book “The People of Moscow”, a personal favourite, one of his much underrated books.Plate 133 was a small reproduction of a group of junior corps de ballet ballerinas. This is how the conversation went..

“Henri I love this image. Why have you never made a signed collector print of this?”

“Peter, it’s not important. It’s just a snap shot. No one has ever asked me for one"

“Forgive me Henri, but I think it is much more than a “snap shot” I think it is like a Degas, a little gem. Would you be willing to make me three "16x 20" prints of this image and sign them?"

He replied, pretending to be somewhat annoyed with a gentle sigh..
“Well if you insist. I will oblige"

This is how I came to possess them. This print recently came back to me, my client who I had sold it to many years ago was downsizing her life and she knew how much I loved it. Full circle.
