“I think I was shy as a young woman and realized that photography was an ideal way to of expressing myself, of telling people what was going on without having to talk”
~ Martine Franck
(1938-2012)
ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS WORK
Martine was an extraordinary talented and gracious woman. It is so hard to create a landscape photograph as seductive as this one. You feel instantly drawn into it’s orbit. It’s hard to resist its allure. You have to follow the path and go on the journey Martine has set up for us. When you experience this image in person you see a small female figure, walking through the landscape - of course impossible to see on your screen as you read this... This tiny unexpected figure was a gift to Martine from the photo gods. I’m sure she completely identified with her, getting lost in nature.
We are proud to include Martine Franck's work in our next exhibition, Her: The Great Women Photographers on view August 17th - November 23rd, 2024. We celebrate the extraordinary talents of women in photography, featuring diverse and powerful images by some of the most influential female photographers from across the globe - iconic images, alongside unseen gems.
We encourage you to join us for this wonderful exhibition. RSVP below for our opening reception: Saturday August 17th, 2024, between 4 and 6pm.
