“I like the streets. I grew up in the streets”
~ William Klein
(1928-2022)
I live in so called laid back California. That is why I often keep a print of this great William Klein photo in my office so I never get complacent about what I need to do for our photographers I’m honored to work with and for everyday. You could say it keeps me on my toes and energizes me like a double expresso.
It is a close as a self portrait as it gets, of any great photographer in the history of photography. Bill for sure is that kid. In your face, trying to express all his pent up frustration about all that is wrong in the urban jungle, and seeking some kind of social justice to make it all better and make some of the pain go away. Bravo Bill, another “tour de force” image from your great body of work.
