“I am very fond of this image and it has qualities of the mystical and the universal with connotations of both the astronomical and also the molecular which I find satisfying. The scale is very ambiguous to most viewers and I enjoy presenting that kind of puzzle as it leaves space for many more different kinds of interpretations."
~ Don Worth
Don was one of the shyest people I have ever met, completely self effacing, the 360 degree opposite to the “career” artist we all read about today. Yet he became Ansel Adam’s first full time assistant and they enjoyed a wonderful working relationship. They bonded over their other great love, the piano, of which they were both superb performers and their photographic association deepened Don’s supreme technique in the darkroom. I was totally seduced the first time I saw this image, water drops on some plastic but it has an extraordinary power and I continue to be seduced by it to this day.
