“If I knew how to take a good photograph, I’d do it every time”
~ Robert Doisneau
1912-1994
This is one of Robert’s earliest photographs and one of his first artistic breakthroughs. It is 1934 and there is a little festival going on in the suburban streets he constantly roamed. It was a parade and the father here has built an aeroplane for his son from an old toy car. It is the perfect composition. Robert waited for a little break in the parade with no distracting people in the background so he could focus on the father/son relationship with such insight and tenderness.
No doubt, a special day for both of them.
